Volunteer still wanted

We are still looking to recruit a volunteer for a Wednesday to cover our reception.

Please see below for further details.

Volunteer wanted

We are in need of a volunteer to help out with reception work on a Wednesday.

Ideally we would like you to cover all day Wednesday. However, if this is not an option then you must be able to cover at least the morning as this is our Housing drop in day.

You must have a good level of English as well as an ability to work under pressure as it can get very busy.

If you are interested in a volunteer pack please contact us.

March for the Alternative

On Saturday the 26th March members of the Law Centre’s staff attended a march in London fighting against the cuts the Government are proposing. It was an incredible turn out with people attending from all across the country which was fantastic to see.

25 Year Jubilee!

This October the Law Centre has been helping residents for 25 years.

To celebrate 25 years of the Law Centre we had tea and cakes with the Mayor and invited guests on 6th October 2010.

At least 100,000 local people have received help and advice from us during that time.

Over the last 2 years we have brought in over £1million each year for our clients in benefits gained, debt written off and settlements. We have saved numerous clients from eviction and each homeless family costs taxpayers between £6,000 and £80,000 each. We have had employees reinstated to their jobs, obtained references and back pay and fought inequality.

Many clients receive new or increased benefit, are able to manage their affairs better and have had their overpayments reduced or written off.

We have prevented clients being returned to an unsafe country where their lives were in danger as well as helping people apply for citizenship.

We hope to continue for as long as we can helping local people with their legal issues.
