Employment Caseworker Vacancy

Employment Caseworker (Full-Time, 9-Month Maternity Cover)

We urgently seek an experienced employment caseworker to start as soon as possible, undertaking a full range of employment law casework, including discrimination.

We are a small, friendly team of solicitors, barristers and experienced case-workers, providing a high quality, independent service to residents of Gloucestershire in 4 categories of social welfare law, including employment.

We are seeking, ideally, to appoint a candidate who 1) has sound experience of claimant work as we advise only employees, and 2) has experience of working under a Legal Services Commission contract and meets the self-supervisor standard.  However, all suitable candidates who can demonstrate the ability and knowledge to provide a comprehensive employment casework service will be considered. Ideally, we need someone who can work 3 days a week, although we can be flexible about this. The post is available for about 9 months to cover maternity leave.

The salary offered is dependent on experience, as follows:
• Senior self- supervisor who meets LSC self supervisor standard and has significant relevant experience including advocacy experience: £29,628 pro rata.
• Experienced caseworker who meets LSC self-supervisor standard: £26, 706 pro rata
• Supervised caseworker: £23,405 pro rata

For an application pack please contact Mary Smith via the details below.

We are also seeking on an ongoing basis barristers who can offer to represent employment tribunal claimants on a pro bono basis as we have no funding to cover Tribunal representation. For an informal chat about either opportunity, please contact Anne Whitworth on 01452 835 383.

Closing date: Fri 26 February, 2010

Salary: £23,405-£29,628 p.a. dependent on experience (see above)

Grants

Recently, here at the Law Centre, we have been very busy applying for new ways of funding!

Fortunately for us, Access to Justice accepted our bid and have granted us £2000.

Access to Justice

As well as this Gloucestershire Community Foundation also granted us £1000.

Gloucestershire Community Foundation

This money will be invested wisely in revamping the Law Centre to try and get it up to speed with changing technologies, we are trying to move away from being a more paper based office to a computer based office, this will in the long run save us alot of money in paper and save alot of time in copying from paper to computer too! This time of course can be put into casework which will be an improvement to our service!

The plan is to network computers into all of our interview rooms as well as reception, we will also be upgrading our photocopier so it will have a new built in scanner.

No Longer Recruiting Volunteers!

A quick post just to say we are no longer accepting Volunteer applications for the time being. This is due to already having enough volunteers within the Law Centre to lend a helping hand.

If this situation changes, the website will be updated accordingly.

New Trustees Wanted!

This is a post for anyone that lives or works in Gloucestershire and is interested in becoming a Trustee of the Law Centre.
